5 Things About Coke Studio Africa’s 2019 Season

Coke Studio Africa—the continent’s biggest music show and Coca-Cola’s music flagship show in Africa returns for its sixth edition in 2019. Lovers of the collaborative show should expect to experience exciting new music fusions: from covers, throwbacks and unplugged versions, to original compositions. Here is a snippet of what to expect on the new season, which hits TV screens across Africa from February 2019:

New theme pegged on Pride & Celebration

The culmination of the show will be a source of celebration for African content while highlighting different music genres, cultures and reunions. Similar to past seasons, the Pan African show will feature top music acts and producers drawn from a host of countries. The artists will hail from the Sub Saharan Africa countries that include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Nigeria and South Africa, among others.

2018 Christmas Playlist

Every year, Coke Studio Africa releases Christmas hits with an urban pop twist remade by the stars appearing on the show. In December 2018, prior to the premiere of the new season, the show released a Christmas Playlist featuring “Deck The Halls” performed by two of Africa’s rising hip hop stars; Laylizzy and Fik Fameica (Uganda), “12 Days of Sikuku” by Moji ShortBaba (Kenya) and “Joy To The World” by Skales (Nigeria). The Coke Studio Africa Playlist is now available on YouTube.

Nigerian music producer GospelOnDeBeatz is the only producer making a return for a second time. All these acts will be among over 25 other bright stars from Africa that are expected to feature on the show.
